Exfoliation
Benefits of Exfoliation in Winter
It is always recommended to cleanse the skin, and especially in the winter b8ecause the skin tends to become dull. During winter, the skin undergoes a process of skin renewal which slows down, and dead skin cells build up and make the skin appear dull and coarse. Some of these dead cells can build up, and exfoliation helps in washing off these cells, to expose the newer and vibrant skin cells behind them. It also enhances the effectivity of the other skincare products that you use; moisturizers, serums and the rests.
Because of this the skin fails to CHAPTER TWO exfoliate , hence clogging the pores resulting in formation of blackheads and breakout. Exfoliation also benefits the skin in that the skin -save technique eliminates the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as it provides the skin with a smoother texture. But when it comes to exfoliation, there is should some caution particularly during the winter since careless exfoliation can lead to irritation.
Safe Exfoliation Techniques
Using winter as the prime example, we can know that the rules are simple: do not be rough when exfoliating. That is why, here are the safe techniques you should try:
- Chemical Exfoliants: These employ alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) that melt away the dead skin cells. They are usually milder compared to other physical scrubs. While glycolic and lactic acid are perfect for winter season.
- Physical Exfoliants: These include scrubbing with gels that contain tiny round pebbles to exfoliate the skin by hand. Select comfortable fabrics, where it is possible to wash with rice brand or oatmeal. Do not use aggressive cleaning with gross particles and avoid aggressive rubbing.
- Exfoliating Tools: Konjac sponges or soft bristled brushes will also help to gently exfoliate. These should be used alongside a mild soap just to ensure that the skin is not peeled too much.
This is while it is advisable to exfoliate ones to twice a week especially during the winter season based on the skin type. In such a case, it is advisable to use a moisturizer that will help to replenish the skin moisture.
Hydration from Within
Importance of Drinking Water
Not only the external treatment though, the internal hydration is also a part of the ‘skin care’. Staying adequately hydrated is important for good health and can make a difference to your skin’s state. Hydrated skin is more likely to be full, smooth, and healthy in appearance, and it is easier for a qualified cosmetic surgeon to perform surgery. Conversely, lack of water will give the skin a pale and unhealthy appearance, and also worsens conditions such as flakiness and cracking.
Ensure that you take not less than 8 glasses of water per day. If you dislike plain water, you can try consuming herbal teas, or add refreshing additions to the water such as lemon, cucumber or berries.
