3. Targeted Treatments: Customize Your Approach

This is where holding a combination skin might make you apply different products to different areas of your face.
For instance, you can be using an oil controlling serum on areas that have T-zone and use a hydrating serum on areas that have cheeks.

Tip: That is why niacinamide is good for combination skin because it regulates sebum production and moisturizes the skin.
Alternatively seek out serums that contain this chemical or use a product with salicylic acid concentration for the T-zone if you have problematic skin.

Try: It is the Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% for oil control or CosRX Advanced Snail Mucin Essence for hydration.

4. Moisturizer: Light Yet Hydrating

Where moisture is concerned there are lots of good products in the market, but getting the right one is important.
What you want is something light, some product that might not clog up your pores and yet some moisture for the dry sections.
The best moisturizers include gel-based moisturizers or oil-free moisturizers since combination skin is a type of skin.

Tip: Choose one that is a water base, oil free moisturizer and which is suitable for application on oily
skin which is non-greasy, and has moisturizing properties but Non acne forming. You can also try using two different moisturizers: a lighter formulation for the T-zone area and a better one for your cheeks.

Try: Then use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, or CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion at night.

5. SPF: Don’t Forget Sunscreen

Protection from the sun does not depend on skin type and should not be left at home. But those with combination skin should opt for non-oily, non-greasy sun protection that won’t aggravate the T-zone area.

Tip: Select a sunblock with no oil content since it is intended for sensitive skin or the skin that is vulnerable to acne. To be precise, find one that contains broad-spectrum SPF which will not leave your skin oily.

Try: The EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 or La Roche-Posay Anthelios Clear Skin SPF 60.

6. Exfoliation: Keep It Gentle

It’s important to shed the skin and clear all the pores on the face by exfoliation but doing it too frequently will irritate the skin and worsen dryness. It is recommended to use gentle exfoliation 1-2 times a week.

Tip: Employ something that has AHAs or BHAs for exfoliation to remove layers of dead skin cells without that nasty inflammation.

Try: Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant.
